Hague Convention and International Child Abduction Representation
The United States is a signatory to the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (Hague Convention). The Hague Convention is a treaty that mandates the return of abducted children to their home countries under certain conditions.
Our firm represents parents whose child or children have been unlawfully removed to the United States and who are seeking the child’s return to their home country. We also represent parents who have brought their child or children to the United States from another country and have been sued under the Hague Convention to compel their return.
Hague Convention cases are time-sensitive and generally must be filed within one year of the child’s removal from their home country to effect their return. In cases filed after one year, the abducting parent may assert numerous defenses that make getting the child returned much more difficult. And the time limitation applies irrespective of any concealment of the child’s whereabouts by the abducting parent.
We represent Hague Convention litigants throughout both the State of Florida and the United States. As a parent, we understand your concern and heartache of being separated from your child. From our perspective, there is nothing more important than fighting for you to have custody of your child.
If your child has been wrongfully taken from your country to the United States, or if you’ve been sued in the United States for the return of your child to his or her home country, call or email our Hague Convention and International Child Abduction lawyer today to discuss how we can help you be reunited or remain here with your child.
